Systematic Spontaneity is an ongoing computational process art wall painting series. The series brings the rules-based creative methods of Systems Art into an algorithmic environment and presents an approach which is playful, computational, and physical.

The series uses computational and AI methods to analyse the creative choices that I make as I am making each artwork. Predicted choices are then fed back to me, which in turn informs the next decisions I make. Through the process of making the painting, a small-scale, bespoke, and personal algorithmic mirror of myself is also created. The work is a generative interaction between myself and the reflection of myself as the artist embodied in the algorithm. The computer is neither a partner nor a tool in the creation of the artwork, it is a version of me.

The series explores AI as a neutral and non-threatening material, applied to myself as paint is to a surface, and presents compliance with AI as a choice in itself rather than a threat.
